CCCPA Hosts APSTA's 10th Board of Directors Meeting

Cairo, Egypt - CCCPA hosted the 10th Board of Directors meeting of the African Peace Support Trainers Association (APSTA), from 8-9 February 2016.
The meeting was chaired by Counselor Ashraf Swelam, CCCPA Director and Chairperson of the Association for the period 2015-2016. Attending the meeting were delegates from member institutions including: Director of the Institute for Peace and Security Studies (Ethiopia); Deputy Director of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (Ghana); APSTA Treasurer and Director of the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC) (Kenya); Director General of the Ecole de Maintien de la Paix – Alioune Blondin BEYE (EMPABB) (Mali); Operations General Manager of the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD); and CEO of the APSTA Secretariat (as Ex-Officio).
Board members discussed several pertinent developments and issues around the work of the Association in general, and the Secretariat in particular. The Board tasked the Secretariat with ensuring:
the successful implementation of the planned activities for 2016
building upon the ongoing collaboration with the African Union Commission (AUC), the regional Economic Communities/Mechanisms (RECs/RMs) and other key stakeholders, including Save the Children International (SCI)
expanding the membership of the Association
The Board thanked the AUC for its continued support and encouraged future cooperation to enable the Association to respond to the needs of the continent.
CCCPA was appointed one-year Presidency of APSTA (by rotation – representing the North Africa Region) at the 13th Annual General Meeting of the Association, held in Addis Ababa from 7-9 September 2015.
