Responding to the Ebola Outbreak
18 September 2014

Cairo, Egypt - Responding to the current Ebola crisis facing Africa, CCCPA organized a series of training programs, in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

During the two 4-day trainings, military, police, health and other civil--servants selected from 34 African countries--were introduced to concepts of humanitarian border management and strategies for the containment of the outbreak.

The trainings were part of Egypt’s response to United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSC) 2177, issued on September 18, 2014; which considered the current outbreak a threat to the “peace and security in Africa”. The resolution called on member states and organizations to provide assistance in addressing the spread of the virus, and to strengthen efforts to disseminate preventive measures.
