CCCPA Participates in the Executive Committee Meeting of the International Association of Peacekeeping Training Centers (IAPTC)
21 April 2021

As the current Secretariat of IAPTC, the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding participated in the Extraordinary Executive Committee Meeting of IAPTC on 21 April 2021.

Executive Committee members discussed the status of, and plan for the 26th Annual Conference of IAPTC scheduled to take place in November 2021 in Bangladesh after last year’s conference was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

CCCPA Director General Ambassador Ahmed Abdel-Latif provided an overview of Egypt's experience in successfully organizing the second edition of the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development virtually. More than 800 participants from 96 countries attended the event, while recorded messages were received from 19 African Heads of State, the United Nations Secretary-General, and the Chairperson of the African Union Commission.

Committee members praised the second Aswan Forum for its exceptional organization and the quality of its deliberations, emphasizing the importance of drawing on CCCPA’s expertise to organize the Association's annual conference.

Established in 1995, IAPTC is an open and voluntary association of centers, institutions, agencies and programs dealing with peace operations research, education, and training.

The aim of the Association is to contribute to more effective peace operations, through promoting a better understanding of peacekeeping and its goals, and to facilitate communication, exchange of information and best practices between peace operations and other related education and training centers, and/or among people responsible for, and involved in, training for peacekeeping operations.

Egypt hosted the annual IAPTC conference in September 2017 after assuming the role of the Secretariat in January 2017; CCCPA is the first Arab and African center to assume this role.
