Egypt Loses Six of its UN Peacekeepers

CCCPA expresses its deepest condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of six UN Egyptian peacekeepers who died in a car accident in the Ivory Coast last week.

Egypt is a longstanding and committed contributor to UN peacekeeping operations and has consistently been among the top contributors to peacekeeping operations in the world. Egypt previously lost 28 of its peacekeepers while serving the cause of peace. Its first contribution to UN peacekeeping was in 1960 in the Congo. Since then, Egypt has contributed to 37 UN missions with over 30,000 peacekeepers, deployed in 24 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe.
